Former 5* Michigan DT, Aubrey Solomon, announced his decision to transfer to Tennessee on December 21st, 2018. Just days after announcing his decision to transfer, Solomon released a graphic and a statement setting his transfer destination as Tennessee.

Solomon graduated from Lee County High School in Leesburg, Georgia. He was rated as the No. 23 overall player and No. 2 defensive tackle in the 2017 class according to the 247Sports, composite rankings.

The news comes at a great time for Tennessee after losing Emmit Gooden for the year with a torn ACL. Gooden was predicted to start at defensive tackle this season, If Solomon was ruled ineligible. Tennessee had concerns on the defensive line coming into the year after having graduated all three starting defensive lineman, and a key reserve in Paul Bain.

The four graduates played over 75% of the snaps last year. The Vols will look to improve on last year having given up over four yards-per-carry and over 150+ yards-per-game on the ground, good for 52nd in the country.

Solomon has yet to put it all together at the college level, however he has shown glimpses of that talent. As a freshman, Solomon totaled 16 tackles and 2 tackles-for-loss in eight games. If Tennessee can get the defensive lineman to play up to his potential, he could make an immediate and substantial impact for this new defensive front.
