Needless to say, the quarterback position is locked up for Tennessee. It’s pretty much a given that redshirt senior Hendon Hooker will once again be the Vols’ starter. But, what about the guys behind Hooker?
Joe Milton III - Milton was the season starter for the Vols last year. His accuracy was his main issue before he relinquished his starting spot to Hendon Hooker, due to injury during the Pittsburgh game. The Michigan transfer threw for 375 yards and two touchdowns on 62 attempts, with a 51.6 completion percentage. Milton provides Tennessee with a guy who knows the offense, and has the physical structure to take a few lumps as needed.
Tayven Jackson - Jackson is an incoming four-star freshman prospect. Jackson is a more than capable scrambler and does a really good job of getting the ball out quickly. In his senior season of high school, Jackson threw for 1,842 yards, and 21 touchdown passes, on 124 completions in 187 attempts. Worth being noted, he only threw three interceptions, which is pretty impressive given his 187 attempts.
Gaston Moore - Moore is a transfer from UCF and worked the scout team for the Knights last year in his freshman season. Gaston will definitely be a project-type player, but who better to develop him than Josh Heupel?
Navy Shuler - Vol fans may be familiar with Navy, as he is the son of former Tennessee quarterback Heath Shuler. Navy transferred from Appalachian State to join Coach Heupel’s squad. Shuler only appeared in one game for the Mountaineers last season.
